Biography

Roger Pancost was born and raised in the United Church of Christ and was confirmed at Pilgrim Congregational UCC in Lansing, Michigan. After receiving his B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University he entered UCC affiliated Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. Roger graduated from Eden with his Master of Divinity Degree in 1987. He then accepted the call to serve the United Church of Christ in Sherburne, New York. After seventeen years of service with that church Roger accepted the call to serve the United Church of Christ, Midland. He enjoys sharing in the many ministries of this church which include: engaging worship, meaningful educational experiences, warm fellowship, and opportunities for service.

Roger is married to Sarah who is a teacher at H.H. Dow High School and serves as the International Baccalaureate coordinator for that institution. Roger and Sarah have a son who they enjoy spending time with at home and at their favorite Michigan location, The Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.

Rev. Pancost keeps office hours Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 3:30p.m. and is available for appointments at other times.

 

James Hohmeyer

Biography

James Hohmeyer is the conductor emeritus of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, and the Director of Choral Programs and Music Theater at Midland Center for the Arts. In 2010 he was the conductor of the Hollywood Concert Orchestra on a national tour with Shirley Jones in A Night at the Oscars.

Hohmeyer apprenticed with Maestros Robert Shaw and James Levine, and has degrees from Wayne State University and completed requirements for a Doctor of Music Arts (orchestral conducting) at Michigan State University. Conducting credits are many, including the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Arizona State honors Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theater Touring orchestra. He is active as a choral music adjudicator and clinician, and his multi-faceted background includes a 30-year career as a Detroit-area educator, jazz pianist, theatrical conductor and jazz conductor/pianist/arranger for the Michigan Opera Theater touring programs.

He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, and the Michigan Music Teachers Association.

 

Erica Meyer

Biography

 Erica Meyer joined the staff part-time in June 2023 after serving for 10 years as the International Baccalaureate Spanish teacher at Dow High where she also served as the advisor and founding faculty member for the Dow High Student Diversity Board and advisor to the Body Positivity Club, Latin American Student Association, and the Dear Asian Youth Club. She has Bachelor's degrees in Social Work and Spanish and a Master’s degree in Spanish education. She has continued her work with the Student Diversity Board and is also serving as an adult mentor in the Midland County Youth Leadership program.

Erica’s family includes her spouse, Brad, and their children. They live in Midland and enjoy spending time outdoors all over Michigan as well as traveling (and eating!) all over the country and hopefully to more places in the world. Erica enjoys spending as much time as possible with friends & family, group fitness, cooking, reading, and watching TV and movies. She feels she is at her best when working with kids and also excitedly supports the education and faith journey of all people UCC Midland.

 

Janet Davis

Biography

Born and raised in Midland, Janet Davis has been Administrative Assistant for Midland UCC since July, 2006. Her job involves serving as the communication link of the church to the community and between members of the congregation. She produces worship service materials, publishes a monthly newsletter, coordinates the church database and serves the pastor, staff, and church leaders in a variety of administrative tasks.

Janet can be found in the church office Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
